Worlds Apart

Image
From Curitiba's well organized transportation system and modern way of life to the Westernmost region of the State of Paraná, seven hours (by bus), 500 kilometers and worlds apart. This photo I took a few days ago as my wife's cousin passes by calmly "driving" his oxcart as he goes from one job to the next. What he does is basically to rent his bulls' power to tilt and plough other people's lands, in properties located throughout the city of Capitão (Captain) Leônidas Marques. People here are waiting for rain in order to sow beans, corn and whatever is profitable. But rains are not coming. I will talk to the oxcart man soon and let you know.

Japan's Square

Yes, just like that: Japan's Square and not only Japan Square. Seen here is my yon-sei (fourth-generation Nippo-Brazilian) daughter under a Sakura Tree in this that is one of Curitiba's most captivating downtown park-square.

Capivara droppings

Image
During the the two months that I roamed about and around Curutiba's Metropolitan Area I have done quite a number of walks, natute walks, train-track walks, river-walks ( walk along river banks) and so on.On some of these outtings I took my grandsons and still minor sons out for nature encounters. Along the banks of the Iraizinho River between two dams, Capybaras or capivaras still explore the area freeely as the great amount of droppings found along the way is a proof. In this photo, my granddaughter Mariana's hands are seen as she proudly shows some of the products of a capybar. She learned that "cocô de capivara" (capybara's droppings) are not dirty, or stinky.
